After teasing the Swifties in social media the past few weeks, Taylor Swift did not disappoint in her Yahoo! live stream this week! The 24-year-old pop princess announced so many surprises that it made our heads burst with all sorts of happiness! Let’s recap….
1. A brand new single! Tay danced with the lucky fans in the audience as she debuted her new song, “Shake It Off.” She explained that her goal was to create new music unlike anything she’s ever recorded before. Her inspiration for the song came from her personal experiences of people making up rumors about her. Taylor said, “People can say whatever they want about us, at any time and we cannot control that. The only thing we can control is our reaction to that.” So true, Taylor! Of course, the catchy tune immediately skyrocketed to number 1!
2. A brand new album!! Taylor has been working on her much-anticipated fifth album for two years. It’s her first official pop album entitled “1989,” after the year she was born. For this follow up to “Red,” she drew influence from 1980’s pop music. Even the cover art that she revealed, a Polaroid pic of her, is totally 80’s! The album comes out on October 27th. There is a deluxe version of it as well, which will have bonus songs, three voice memos that she recorded into her phone, and 13 (her fave number) Polaroid pics! Each album will have 13 different pics…so start looking for trading buddies! And if this isn’t mind blowing enough, in each CD there will be a chance to win 1,989 prizes in the #1989SwiftStakes, including the chance to meet Taylor on tour!
3. A brand new video!!! Taylor is known for dancing in the audience at awards shows. She uses all those moves and more in the video for “Shake It Off.” Taylor shows many sides of herself from serious to goofy to playful. And she showcases different types of dancing including ballet, hip hop and break dancing. She even does a cheer where she channels Toni Basil’s “Mickey,” a classic 80’s hit song. The video features professional dancers along with Taylor’s fans chosen from social media and fan sites. Obviously we’ve already put this on replay, since we need to learn all of Taylor’s new moves STAT!
