December Movie Madness!

“Night At The Museum: Secret Of The Tomb”

RATED PG, Coming out DECEMBER 19th

The “Night at the Museum” story continues when the third movie, “Night at the Museum: Secret Of The Tomb,” charges into theaters this month. Security guard Larry, played by the hilarious Ben Stiller, is back with an all new epic adventure! This journey has him traveling to London’s British Museum to save the magic before it is gone forever. We love that the super funny, “Pitch Perfect” star Rebel Wilson joins the trilogy as a British security guard at the museum. And favorites Owen Wilson as Jedediah and Robin Williams as Teddy Roosevelt are back. The action sequences in the film look amazing. We can’t wait to go along on this ride and see if Larry saves the day!

The movie stars Ben Stiller, Dan Stevens, Robin Williams, Rebel Wilson, Owen Wilson, Ben Kingsley, Rami Malek, Mizuo Peck, Steve Coogan, Crystal the Monkey and more!

To get ready for this film, you can have a mini marathon of the first two museum movies. Both are rated PG:

In the first “Night at the Museum” (2006), Larry, a night security guard at the Museum of Natural History, learns that the exhibits come to life when no one is around.

In the sequel, “Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian” (2009), Larry has to go to the Smithsonian Institution to rescue his friends who were shipped to another museum by mistake.

“Annie”

RATED PG, Coming out DECEMBER 19th

If you love movie musicals, you will want to check out the comedy-drama “Annie.” In this modern twist of the classic Broadway musical, Oscar nominated actress Quvenzhané Wallis stars as Annie. She’s a bright, young New York City foster kid living with a mean foster mom named Miss Hannigan ( played by the fabulous Cameron Diaz). Annie’s life changes when the rich, mayoral candidate, Will Stacks, takes an interest in her. In an effort to look good for his campaign, Mr. Stacks takes Annie into his fancy home. Annie has the opportunity to live the high life with her dog Sandy.

The movie also has great music! The soundtrack, which is available now, is filled with classic songs like “Tomorrow,” “It’s The Hard-Knock Life,” and “Maybe.” Sia covers the song “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile” by giving a pop-ifed vibe. Will Annie live happily ever after with the Mr. Stacks?

The movie stars Jamie Foxx, Cameron Diaz, Bobby Cannavale, Rose Byrne, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, David Zayas and Quvenzhané Wallis.

Before you go to the theater, you can watch the 1982 adaptation of “Annie.” In that version, Annie is living at Miss Hannigan’s orphanage and a billionaire, Oliver Warbucks, has her stay at his mansion to help out his image.

“Into the Woods”

RATED PG, Coming out DECEMBER 25th

Another movie musical out this month that is also adapted from the Broadway stage is “Into The Woods.” This Stephen Sondheim masterpiece is dark, funny, heartfelt and magical! A baker and his wife want to have children, but a witch placed an evil spell on them. The film takes the well-known Brothers Grimm fairy tales of Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Bean Stalk, Rapunzel and Cinderella and gives them a wicked twist. All of these characters stories intertwine with the baker and the wife on their journey to reverse the spell. The cast is star studded! Meryl Streep looks amazing as the witch! Anna Kendrick (“Pitch Perfect”) plays Cinderella and Chris Pine (“Star Trek”) plays her handsome Prince. Johnny Depp looks devilish as the wolf after Little Red Riding Hood. The costumes are dazzling and the sets look beautiful!

The “Into The Woods” two-disc deluxe-edition soundtrack will be released on December 16th.. The soundtrack will include classics like “Children Will Listen,” “Giants in the Sky,” “On the Steps of the Palace,” and “No One is Alone.”

The movie stars Tracey Ullman, Frances de la Tour, Johnny Depp, Lucy Punch, Meryl Streep, Chris Pine, Emily Blunt, Simon Russell Beale, Tammy Blanchard, James Corden, Anna Kendrick, Christine Baranski, Billy Magnusen, Lilla Crawford, Daniel Huttlestone, and MacKenzie Mauzy.
