Mike Geiger is an artist and animator who created the fabulously funny Super Duper Super Hero, and today, he's the subject of our creator interview!
batteryPOP: Did you draw comics and cartoons when you were young, and did you have a favorite character that you created from back then?
Mike: I was really into skateboarding when I was a kid so I used to draw company logos and skateboard graphics on all my binders and notebooks instead of cartoon characters.
batteryPOP: What are your favorite cartoons/comics/illustrations?
Mike: Currently, I've been really into "Gumball". That and "Bread Winners" have been this winter's favorites.
batteryPOP: How did get the idea for Super Duper Super Hero?
Mike: I'm a big fan of the classic series "Roger Ramjet" and wanted to make something that had the same silly vibe. Silly Super Heroes seemed like a good place to start.
batteryPOP: If you could create and draw a character that got to be a guest star on any cartoon, what cartoon would you pick, and who would your character be?
Mike: I would draw Darth Vader into Scooby Doo cause it would be funny to see if the bad guy could actually get away with it for once.
batteryPOP: Do you have any advice for kids who want to work in animation some day?
Mike: Just start drawing! The better the artist you are, the easier you will be able to transition into animation, and hey, drawing is like way fun anyways!
batteryPOP: If you were a super hero, what would your name be, and who would be your sidekick?
Mike: Possibly Captain Boring Pants? Professor Sit-A-Lot? Hopefully my sidekick would be someone capable over getting me outside and off this darn computer every now and then.
